It is time to register for the 2016 Run & Walk for Life!
With only a few days to go to Sunday 9th October and the start of the 2016 South East Solas Cancer Support Centre “Run & Walk for Life”, the registration will be taking place in the Solas Centre on the following dates and times;
Thursday 6th October, 10am to 7pm, Solas Cancer Support Centre
Friday 7th October, 10am to 7pm, Solas Cancer Support Centre
Saturday 8th October, 10am to 5pm, Solas Cancer Support Centre
Vacant Housing Repair and Leasing Initiative
A key component of the Rebuilding Ireland Action Plan for Housing and Homelessness is a new scheme,
the Vacant Housing Repair and Leasing Initiative, which targets the delivery of social housing and also
ensures that existing housing stock is used to the maximum degree possible.
Waterford City and County Council have piloted and progressed the initiative with Department of Housing Planning Community and Local Government support.Read
Portuguese Man O’War are landing on our shores
Irish Water Safety is alerting the public to exercise caution on our south, west and northwest coastline
over the next few days. We have experienced tropical maritime air for almost two months now with
very little northerly winds, in addition sea water temperatures are approximately 15 degrees Celsius,
consequently we have seen one of the largest infestations of the Portuguese Man o’war land on our
western seaboard in over a hundred years.
Waterford Council Starting New Letting Scheme
Waterford City & County Council are introducing a Choice Based Letting Scheme on a pilot basis for certain council properties in Waterford city and county areas. The pilot Choice Based Lettings Scheme will go live on the Council’s website at 9 a.m. on Friday 16th September. The Council will be seeking expressions of interest from anyone currently on the housing list who may be interested in becoming a tenant of certain properties advertised through the Choice Based Letting Pilot Scheme…..Read
BOOKS AND MORE BOOKS….
Hey there! This month’s missive from TCRfm Towers finds me in a bookish mood. Bruce Springsteen’s autobiography comes out in a couple of weeks and while I’m waiting around for that I’ve been pondering some of the music-related books I’ve read in recent years. It’s reassuring to know that musicians’ books tend to be considerably more readable than those of,say, footballers, for instance. I’ve read quite a few of those too in my time and more often than not they live up to Joey Barton’s memorable and withering assessment of Frank Lampard’s autobiography….Read
