Ardscoil Na Mara pupil numbers could be set to rise
A planned major extension at Ardscoil Na Mara in Tramore is expected to be decided upon in the coming week. If it goes ahead it will make Ardscoil one of the largest schools in the Country.
Ardscoil, which replaced the CBS and Stella Maris Secondary Schools, currently has capacity for over one thousand students.
Waterford Fine Gael TD John Deasy says the growth that they have had was not expected and the extension needs to happen quickly. Minister for Education Richard Bruton told Mr. Deasy that it is his Department’s intention to provide an extension to the school to meet the demand for additional school accommodation in the area.
In the event of the extension getting the green light John Deasy says measures to ensure traffic is able to flow at peak times will have to be introduced.
