Free WiFi for Waterford City Centre
Waterford City and County Council are delighted to announce the extension of free WiFi for Waterford City Centre thanks to the Waterford City Centre Management Group.
Waterford City Centre Management Group comprising membership from Waterford City and County Council, An Garda Síochána, Waterford Chamber of Commerce, Waterford Business Group, Shopping Centres, Large Retailers, Estate Agent Tidy Towns Committee, and Port Waterford announce free WiFi in the City Centre which will aid tourism and visitors to the city.
Access points are located at Michael St., Broad St., John Roberts Sq. and Meagher’s Quay areas. These additional points will supplement WiFi which is already available in the Viking Triangle and Cathedral Sq. areas of the City.
This initiative follows on from the Purple Flag and Age Friendly Initiative which were rolled out the past 12 months.
The Waterford City Centre Management Group implement actions from the City Centre Management Plan which provides the framework for the future growth and development of the city centre and enables the coordination of ongoing programmes, projects and initiatives within the city centre.
Cllr. John Cummins, Mayor of Waterford City and County Council said “We are very proud to be working alongside the Waterford City Centre Management Group to offer free WiFi to the people of Waterford and to all visitors in the above areas. Waterford city is known for its historical and cultural attractions as well as its many festivals, having free WiFi in its streets will be a new attractive aspect for the City. Launching the Free Wifi during Winterval and in the lead up to Christmas is great as this year and we want to encourage people to shop locally and entice people from all over the region to choose to shop in Waterford.”
