Tramore student wins at BT Young Scientist Exhibition
At the BT Young Scientist Exhibition in Dublin last Friday There was success for Waterford student, Caoimhín O’Leary.
Caoimhín, who’s a second year student at Ard Scoil Na Mara in Tramore won third place in the Technology Junior Individual section for his project entitled ‘Clearwater: Correct UV energy for safe drinking water’, which examined the possibility of using Ultra-Violet light to kill bacteria and viruses in water.
This year an impressive 2,031 projects from 4,251 students across the island of Ireland were entered, with every county represented by a submission. Of those, 550 projects were chosen to go forward to the RDS – five of them from two schools in Waterford; Ard Scoil na Mara, which had four entrants and De La Salle College in the city which had one.
