According to Tramore Tourism, Tramore  received a 210%  increase in visitors during the  Promenade Festival in July. This resulted in Tramore gaining a massive € 800,000 spent with local businesses and retailers.

The festival reported an average increase of 37 per cent in revenue compared to the same weekend in July 2013. This news was an additional boost following Tramore being recently  voted  top of the Irish Independents best loved seaside resorts, as well as coming in third place in the Tidy Towns competition.

The Promenade festival was established by Tramore Tourism in order to restore the town’s original seaside values.  Over the space of the 3 day festival, a staggering 31,000 people visited Tramore, helping it justify it’s reputation as ‘ Ireland’s  Premier Seaside Resort ‘.

“Tramore Tourism have already put plans in place for 2015. Tramore Tourism Chairperson Mary Daniels stated, as well as clarifying the dates for next year’s festival, which will take place on the 3rd, 4th and 5th of July, 2015. “We’re aiming to develop a flagship festival  and next year’s event will be considerably scaled-up” which promises to make our  visitor’s trip to Tramore more worthwhile. She believes that there has been a positive increase in Tramore  residents this year and said that “Throughout the last seven months there has been a notable change in attitudes and enthusiasm of our members.”

Ms. Daniels acknowledged the fact that great work had been done before she was appointed Chairperson of Tramore Tourism, but she thought it was time for a change. An action plan was established and some of the changes that needed to occur in order to regenerate and improve the marketing message about Tramore. “These included the development of further events for the town and the opening of a tourist office.. Tramore’s first fully functioning tourist office started in March”.

Tramore Tourism has many exciting plans for the future which include a festival route for next year’s Promenade Festival which spans over 1.3 kilometres from the top of Main Street to the beach; other plans to guarantee that Tramore stays a top destination for visitors includes the Tramore Hill Challenge in aid of Waterford Hospice as well as the Surf & Sea Festival.

Tramore Tourism is accepting new members for the group and can be contacted by phone at 051-508027 or at their website at www.tramore.ie for more information.
