Waterford Airport Passenger Numbers On The Increase
Waterford Airport has recently announced that passenger numbers are on the up, Desmond O’Flynn, CEO of Waterford airport believes that the consistently strong number of passengers travelling through the airport in recent months will enhance the case for additional services.
The first 8 months of this year have seen an increase of 42.5% compared with the same period last year. He believes that these increased passenger numbers come from increased support from commuters within the Region, as well as an increase in inbound traffic from the UK.
There is also evidence to suggest that the Birmingham & Manchester routes are being used more frequently now as a gateway to onward destinations such as Edinburgh, Paris, Milan & Dusseldorf.
“Whereas business traffic tends to ease off at this time of the year, the month of August is a peak tourism month and we have seen the Airport used to access the Southeast’s various attractions throughout the summer period. Load factors on the Birmingham and Manchester routes have been consistently very strong over recent months and this gives us great encouragement and support when making the case to airlines for additional services.”
