Elderly bus driver killed after road crash in Ardmore, Co Waterford

Tributes have been made to a bus driver who was killed after a crash in Co Waterford on Tuesday night.  Seamus McCarthy, in his 70s, died after an accident on the N25 at Grange, Ardmore at around 10.10pm.

The bus he was driving, had been carrying 29 passengers, left the road and entered a field. Mr McCarthy was taken to Cork University Hospital, but was pronounced dead in the early hours of this morning.

Cork Institute of Technology posted on Twitter earlier today:

A statement on the CIT GAA website read: “Seamus was a great friend to CIT Student GAA Club having travelled the country to countless matches and tournaments with teams since 1995. His loss will be greatly felt by the many staff members and countless numbers of CIT students who have had the pleasure of dealing with him over the years. Our deepest sympathies to his wife Alice and the McCarthy family on their sad loss.”
